Junior Gryphs nipped by Barrie in minor bantam AA series

GUELPH – The Guelph Junior Gryphons surrendered a goal with 12 seconds to play in regulation time as they were edged 3-2 by the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association’s minor bantam AA championship series Sunday at the West End arena.

The Junior Gryphs looked like they might take the match to overtime when they scored with just under two minutes to play.

The hosts never led in the game, but never trailed by more than a goal.

The result ties the six-point series 2-2 as the Junior Gryphs had won the opener 4-0 at Barrie a day earlier.

Game 3 is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Barrie’s Allandale Recreation Complex while Game 4 is to go at the Gryphon Centre Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
