Junior Gryphs split in OWHA intermediate A tourney
MISSISSAUGA – The Guelph Junior Gryphons split a pair of games Friday on the first day of the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association’s intermediate A championship tournament at Iceland arena.
The Junior Gryphs blanked the St. Catharines Brock Junior Badgers 2-0 and lost 3-1 to the Peterborough Ice Kats.
The split left the Junior Gryphs second in Pool B.
They’ll play the Mississauga Chiefs, third in Pool A at 0-2-0, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the tournament’s playoffs.
Winner of that game advances to a quarter-final match against the first-place finisher in Pool D in the quarter-finals Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
The semifinals and medal games are scheduled for Sunday.
