Lamontagne/Chanel du Calvaire take Open Welcome

ROCKWOOD – Francois Lamontagne of St-Eustache, Que., rode Chanel du Calvaire to victory in Thursday’s Headwaters Cup Open Welcome at Angelstone Tournaments.

Lamontagne/Chanel du Calvaire won the title by 5/1000ths of a second as they completed a fault-free run through the jump off course in 41.537 seconds.

Susan Horn of Bolton and Lillyfee were second in 41.542 seconds.

Also turning in a clear round in the jump off was Sean Jobin of Toronto and Zindiloma in 42.354 seconds.

Kim Farlinger of Orangeville and Charming Force B had four faults in the jump off and Carly Campbell Cooper of Waterloo and Fiero Van Orti were eliminated in the jump off after a clear first round.

A total of 39 rider/horse combinations competed in the event.

The Headwaters Cup Grand Prix, the feature event of the meet, is to go Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
