
League scoring leaders power Mohawks in playoff opener
ELORA – Sam Dramnitzke and Brett Harrison finished the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League’s regular season one-two in scoring and they were back at it Saturday night as the Mohawks opened their Western Conference quarter-final playoff series with a 20-2 trouncing of the Point Edward Pacers at the Elora Community Centre.
Dramnitzke (104) and Harrison (101) were the only players in the league to record more than 100 points during the regular season and they started the playoffs with 11 points apiece in the first game of the best-of-five series.

Dramnitzke had five goals and six assists while Harrison collected three goals and eight assists.
As expected, the Mohawks easily had this one under control as they led 6-0 at the end of the first period and 16-0 after the second.
Point Edward scored twice in the third period with a shorthanded marker at 8:07 and a power-play goal at 19:18.
Elora had finished first in the conference at 17-3-0 while Point Edward was tied for eighth with the Wallaceburg Red Devils at 6-14-0. The Pacers grabbed the conference’s final playoff berth by virtue of two wins over Wallaceburg during the season.
Saturday, Jabe Verbeek, Ethen Wellings, Nick Aitchison and Tobias Wilson each had two goals for the Mohawks while Jayden Bushey, Owen Moore, Kyle Detweiler and Matt Allen tallied once each. Wellings had six assists while Bushey and Mark McIntosh had four apiece and Ethan Broderick, Jabe Verbeek, Wilson, Moore, Owen Williams, Detweiler and Allen each had one.
Kaleb Edlington and Graham Armstrong scored for Point Edward.
The Mohawks outshot the Pacers 59-21 and both teams had seven power-play opportunities, Elora scoring on five of them and Point Edward on one.
Nathan Whitton had 19 saves for the win in the Elora net while Jacob Ferreira and Aidan Foster split the goaltending chores for Points Edward. Both yielded 10 goals. Ferreira took the loss with 18 saves in the first 26:32 while Foster went the rest of the way and had 21 saves.
Second game of the series is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. at Point Edward while the third game is to go next Saturday at 7 p.m. at Elora.
