Lions, Celtics ready for D10 girls’ soccer title tilt
GUELPH – The St. James Lions and Bishop Macdonell Celtics are to meet in Thursday’s District 10 high school girls’ soccer final after both posted wins Tuesday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
The Lions scored in the first and last minutes of overtime to defeat the Centre Wellington Falcons 3-1 while a first-half goal stood up for Bishop Mac in a 1-0 win over the Ross Royals.
Olivia Brown scored all three goals for St. James while Halle Tovell scored for Centre Wellington.
Bishop Mac’s scorer was not reported.
St. James had finished first at the conclusion of the regular season while Ross was second, Bishop Mac third and Centre Wellington fifth.
Thursday’s final is to go at 4 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. The winner will be D10’s representative in next week’s CWOSSA AA tournament at Brantford.
Ross will represent the league in the CWOSSA AAA tournament at Kitchener.
