Lions hit late in OT to nip Bishop Macdonell
GUELPH – The St. James Lions struck with 1.4 seconds to go in a five-minute overtime period to edge the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 4-3 in District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey play Thursday at the West End arena.
The Lions had jumped ahead early, scoring a pair of goals in the first period and adding another one on a breakaway in the second.
That goal, though, started an onslaught of goals as Bishop Mac connected for three in a row in a span of a minute and 39 seconds to tie the score. The tying goal came two minutes and 17 seconds after St. James had gone up 3-0.
