Lions keep grasp on fifth in D10 girls’ hockey

GUELPH – The St. James Lions secured a fifth-place finish in the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league standings as they dropped the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 7-4 in the final game of the regular season Thursday at the Victoria Road arena.

Caitlan Krasinski struck for five goals and an assist for the Lions.

Maddy Krusky had a hat trick for the Gaels.

The result left the Lions fifth at 4-5-3 and the Gaels sixth at 3-7-2.

The Ross Royals finished first at 9-1-2 and will get a bye in next week’s quarter-finals. Centre Wellington Falcons were second at 8-1-3, Lourdes Crusaders third at 4-4-4, Centennial Spartans fourth at 3-3-6 and Bishop Macdonell Celtics seventh at 0-10-2.

Wednesday’s quarter-finals pit Bishop Mac against Centre Wellington, GCVI against Lourdes and St. James against Centennial. Locations and times of the games are to be announced.
