Lions tame Bears to start senior hoops season
GUELPH – The St. James Lions opened the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball season with a 57-49 victory over the Orangeville Bears Tuesday at St. James.
Kelvin Nkubito struck for 30 points for St. James.
Keelan Steele led Orangeville with 15 while Brandon Hughes had 12 and Benjamin netted 10.
Guelph CVI 61 Centre Wellington 56
Rylan Ninaber had 15 points to lead GCVI.
Aiden Davy had a game-high 22 for Centre Wellington while Kelsi Mallany netted 11.
Ross 67 Lourdes 59
Cole Miller connected for 26 points for Ross while Gatlang Deng followed with 24.
Sebastian Porcellato collected 27 for Lourdes and Kevin Martinez added 15.
Centennial 78 Bishop Macdonell 37
Cameron Powell led defending champion Centennial with 24 points while Hadi El-Miari gathered 12.
Rimez Kridli had eight for Bishop Mac and Kobi Griffin-Randall hit for seven.

Ross 68 Lourdes 39
Four players hit double figures in scoring for Ross as Daniel Wang had 16 points, Robert Vosper 13, Mateo De Santis 12 and Eric Dewar 10.
Lucas Coulson, Evan Krueger and Simon Porcellato each had seven for Lourdes.
Orangeville 63 St. James 36
Cole Purdell-Lewis had 10 for Orangeville.

Benny Miller had 21 points for Centre Wellington while Gareth Roberts added 19.
