Lourdes Crusaders double up Bishop Mac in girls’ hockey

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders skated to a 6-3 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics in District 10 high school girls’ hockey play Tuesday at the West End arena.

Abigail Robinson struck for four goals and an assist for the Crusaders while Ruby Neuman and Kayla Tenhay added single goals. Georgia Bernard, Tenhay and Isabella Hadfield each had one assist.

Julia Tonin tallied twice for Bishop Mac while Devan MacDonald had a goal and an assist. Sam Stamp assisted on two of the goals while single assists were also awarded to Olivia Chappel, Emma Belluzzi and Morgan Boudreau.

The two teams have 10 points apiece with Lourdes at 5-5-0-0 and Bishop Mac at 5-6-0-0.

They are also the top two AA teams in the loops and have split their league meetings this season. Should they finish in a tie at the end of the regular season, Lourdes would get the higher finishing position by outscoring the Celtics 7-5 in the regular season thanks to Tuesday’s win. Bishop Mac had edged the Crusaders 2-1 Dec. 11.
