Lourdes prevails in battle of unbeaten in senior soccer
GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders moved to the top of the District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer league standings with a 3-2 edging of the Bishop Macdonell Celtics Thursday.
The teams had entered the game tied for first with 3-0-0 records.
Luke Creighton scored all three goals for Lourdes.
The Celtics received goals from Owen Brousseau and Joseph Raso.
Guelph CVI 4 Centre Wellington 1
Eduardo Taveira scored twice for GCVI as the Green Gaels collected their first victory of the season. Luka Vukadinovic and Oscar Warburton also scored.
Simone Cicotti had the goal for Centre Wellington.
Orangeville 1 Ross 0
Jeriah Valladares struck for the game’s only goal while Garrett Graham had the shutout.
St. James 4 Centennial 1
Andre Araujo, Ruben Branco, Jesse Chavez-Neves and Nick Pavone-O’Reilly collected a goal apiece for St. James.
Humza Imtiaz scored for Centennial.
Orangeville 2 Ross 1
Andrew Paolucci and Dylan Pingol fired home goals for Orangeville.
Betts scored for Ross.
Centre Wellington 4 Guelph CVI 0
Getting a goal apiece for Centre Wellington were Owen Oelshlagel, Elkas Symon, Aiden Battaglia and Aiden Mead.
Centennial 6 St. James 1
Ethan Glascott led Centennial with a pair of goals while Isaac Hayes, Sean Harjas, Yinka Oggunote and Oscar Kim also scored.
Lucas Favretto tallied for St. James.
