Mapleton-Minto edged in OT by Petrolia
PETROLIA — The Petrolia Squires scored in overtime to edge the Mapleton-Minto 81’s in Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s hockey league play Friday night at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.
Petrolia scored a pair of goals 17 seconds apart to lead 2-1 at the end of the first period before the teams scored once apiece in the second. The 81’s tied it with a goal with 48 seconds to go in the third.
Owen Rodgers, Adam Arsenault, Ryan Fraser and Jesse Ferguson hit for a goal apiece for Petrolia.
Jake Pleon, Brody Lemay and Collin Hartwick scored for M-M.
The win moves Petrolia (7-3-1-0) to third in the league while the 81’s fall to fourth at 6-2-1-1.
The loss was the second in a row for the 81’s and their third in four games.
The 81’s are to host the Milverton 4-Wheel Drives (0-8-0-1) Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
