Mapleton-Minto skates to win over Milverton

PALMERSTON – The Mapleton-Minto 81’s struck for four goals in the first period on their way to an 8-6 victory over the Milverton 4-Wheel Drives in Western Ontario Athletic Association play Saturday night at the Palmerston arena.

The 81’s never trailed after scoring twice in the final five minutes of the first period for a 4-2 lead at the end of the period. Milverton had led 1-0 and 2-1 earlier in the period. M-M was up 6-3 by the end of the second.

Adam Kawalec and Brady Anderson scored twice apiece for the 81’s while single goals were added by Ben Morris, Riley O’Connell, Wade Pfeffer and Austin Gaboury.

Brent Freeman had two goals for Milverton and Dennis Dewar, Andrew Tapsell, Mitchell Boertien and Evan Buehler scored once each.

M-M is tied for third at 7-1-2-1 while Milverton trails in 14th at 0-10-0-1.

The 81’s are to host the Shelburne Muskies (5-6-0-0) Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
