Mapleton-Minto tripled in playoff opener

PALMERSTON — The Mapleton Minto 81’s suffered a 6-2 loss to the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks as they opened their Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s AA quarter-final playoff series Sunday afternoon at the Palmerston arena.

Saugeen Shores scored twice in each period for the win while M-M had single goals in the second and third periods.

Brady Anderson and Colin Hartwick scored the goals for the 81’s.

Mike Rocca hit for two goals for Saugeen Shores while single goals were netted by Blake Underwood, Connor Paton, Josh Hopkin and Chad Schockenmaier.

Second game of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Friday at Port Elgin. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

The third game is to go Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
