
Minto 81’s dropped by Seaforth in season opener
PALMERSTON – The Minto 81’s opened their Ontario Elite Hockey League season with a 5-2 loss to the Seaforth Centenaires Saturday at the Palmerston and District Community Centre Complex.
Seaforth scored at least once in each period for the win.

Minto trailed 2-1 at the end of the first period and 3-1 after the second.
Robert Grant and Klayton Hoelscher had a goal apiece for the 81’s while assists went to Riley Torrie, Justin Graham and Blair Buchart.
Liam Melady had a pair of goals for Seaforth while Ray Huether, Jamie Huber and Blake Pickering added a goal apiece. Kyle Stanbury and Huber each had two assists while Zach Otto, Huether, Malcolm McLeod, Wyatt Carey and Mike Siddall had single assists.
The 81’s scored a shorthanded goal while neither team scored a power-play goal. Minto had four power plays while Seaforth had six.
Shots on net were not recorded.
Mark Williams was in net for Minto while Seaforth had Tyler Parr in net.
The 81’s are to host the Georgian Bay Applekings Saturday at 7 p.m. at Palmerston.
