Minto 81’s give Durham Thundercats the slip

DURHAM – The Minto 81’s connected for a 4-3 victory over the Durham Thundercats in Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s hockey league play Saturday at the Durham and District Community Centre.

The win was the second in a row for the 81’s following a pair of losses. It was also their second over Durham this season.

Zach Graham fired home a pair of goals for the 81’s while Riley Cribbin and Blair Buchart also scored. Getting an assist apiece were Adam Kawalec, Cribbin, Graham, Tommy Hoogaars and Tyler Harrison.

Quinten Bruce, Zac Coulter and Troy Weber responded with single goals for Durham while Kyler Nixon had two assists and Justin Graham, Matt Prucha and Noah Johnson had one each.

Goaltenders were Daniel DeKoening for Minto and Brendon Landry for Durham.

The 81’s are to be back on the ice today for a home game against the Ripley Wolves at the Palmerston Arena Sunday at 2 p.m.

The 81’s have reached the halfway point of their league season and have played six of their 10 games on the road. That means they’re to have six home games in the second half of the season including five in a row from Dec. 11 to Jan. 16. They’re to complete their regular season with three consecutive road games Jan. 21 to 30.
