Minto 81’s left behind by Seaforth Centenaires

SEAFORTH – The Minto 81’s surrendered the first four goals of the game as they were dropped 7-2 by the Seaforth Centenaires in WOAA senior men’s hockey play Saturday night at the Seaforth arena.

The hosts led 3-0 at the end of the first period and 5-1 after the second.

Dylan Hoffman and Adam Kawawlec scored for Minto while Zach Graham and Wade Pfeffer each had an assist.

Brady Wiffen had a hat trick for Seaforth while single goals were added by Avery Antone, Rob Vanwynsberghe, Holdyn Lansink and Conor Carson. Reuben Smith and Hayden Broomehead each had two assists while Josh Gaynor, Adam Corbett, Nick Jung, Wiffen, Craig Dalrymple and Carson each had one.

Seaforth outshot Minto 36-29 and went 1-for-4 on its power play while the 81’s were scoreless on four power plays.

Marc Williams had 29 saves for the 81’s while Seaforth goaltender Jesse Raymond had 27 saves.

Seaforth (5-3-0-0) moves into a tie for fourth with the victory while Minto (1-5-0-1) is 13th.

The 81’s are to host the second-place Saugeen Shore Winterhawks (7-1-1-0) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
