Mohawks pull even in Yellow Bucket Series with Hamilton
HAMILTON – The Elora Mohawks struck for six goals in the final 10 minutes of the game to down the Hamilton Bengals 10-6 and square the Yellow Bucket Series at a win apiece Tuesday night at Dave Andreychuk arena.
Third game of the best-of-five Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Western Conference semifinal is to go Wednesday at the Elora and District Community Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of the first period and 4-4 after the second. Hamilton scored just less than two minutes into the third and held the 5-4 lead until the Mohawks tied it just about 10 minutes later. Sam Dramnitzke followed with a natural hat trick scored in a span of two minutes and 25 seconds to put Elora ahead for good.
Dramnitzke led the Mohawks with his hat trick while Zack Cameron scored twice and single goals were netted by Ryan Mueller, Dean Sealey, Trent Spear, Louie Ristov and Jonah White. Mueller had three assists while Hyatt Welsh, Spear and Cameron had two each and Sealey, White, Jacob Black, Dawson Bolger and Dramnitzke had one apiece.
Hunter Aggus scored twice for Hamilton while Yvon Bolduc, Dawson Brown, Tyson Allison and Tye Argent each scored once. Tanner Brennecke set up three of the goals and single assists were awarded to Jacob Parkinson, Brown, Carter Schultz and Luke Robinson.
The Mohawks outshot Hamilton 51-45 and each team scored a power-play goal – the Mohawks on five power plays and the Bengals on seven.
Ryan Fitzgerald had 39 saves for the win in the Elora net and Lucas Nagy had 41 saves for Hamilton.
Fourth game of the series is to go Saturday at 7 p.m. at Hamilton and if a fifth game is needed, it’s to be played Sunday at Elora starting at 7 p.m.
