Mount Forest Patriots clouted by Hanover Barons

HANOVER – The Hanover Barons made the most of their shots as they dropped the Mount Forest Patriots 7-2 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Hanover’s P and H Centre.

The hosts scored their seven goals on 22 shots while the Patriots took 36 shots in the game.

Hanover led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 4-1 after the second.

Derrick Cornfield and Hayden Coulter scored the goals for Mount Forest while assists went to Caleb Cribbin, Christopher Prucha, Cornfield and Darcy Winkler.

The Richardsons — Dylan and Bryan – each had two goals for Hanover while Tyson Lina, Jonah White and Alex McGillivray also scored. Eric Black, White, Samson Walsom and Austin Griffin each had two assists while Ryan Colquhoun, Owen Torrie, Ryan Goetz, Bryan Richardson and Spencer Davidson had one apiece.

Joshua Peters had 15 saves in the Mount Forest net while Riley McCabe had 34 for Hanover.

The Patriots scored a single power-play goal while Hanover had two.

Mount Forest has three games to go in its regular season. The Patriots are to host the Goderich Flyers Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, play the Walkerton Hawks at Walkerton March 4 at 8:20 p.m. and host the Kincardine Bulldogs March 6 at 2 p.m.
