Mount Forest Patriots surprised by Kincardine
MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots yielded a pair of goals in each of the first two periods as they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Kincardine Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Wednesday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
After getting 13 wins and a tie in their first 14 home games of the season, the Patriots have now two of their last three home games.
Kincardine led 2-0 at the end of the first period and 4-2 after the second.
Jack Birkett and Parker Miller scored a goal apiece for the Patriots while assists were awarded to Blair Butchart, Ryley Cribbin, Troy Weber and Colton Culbert.
Mike Fiegehen was involved in all five goals for Kincardine as he scored three of them and assisted on the other two. Jerrid Fossold and Logan Freiburger also scored while Freiburger and Kent Ribey each had two assists and Jacob Traynor and Fossold had one each.
The Patriots outshot the Bulldogs 46-35 and went 1-for-5 on their power play while Kincardine didn’t score on its four power plays.
Gleb Poliakov took the loss in net in his debut with the Patriots. He had 30 saves. Sean Andrus had 44 saves for Kincardine.
The Patriots are to play the Wingham Ironmen at Wingham Friday at 8 p.m.
