Norwell, St. James out of CWOSSA girls A/AA tourney

KINCARDINE – Both the District 4 high school girls’ hockey champion Norwell Varsity Reds of Palmerston and the St. James Lions were knocked out of the CWOSSA A/AA championship tournament at the end of Monday’s pool play.

Norwell had a win, loss and another loss in overtime to place third in Pool A while the Lions suffered three consecutive losses to finish fourth in Pool B.

Norwell was edged 3-2 in OT by Grey Highlands Lions of Flesherton and 1-0 in regulation time by St. David Celtics of Waterloo. The Varsity Reds wrapped up their tournament with a 7-1 win over Paris Panthers.

Alexa Marquardt and Ella Black scored against Grey Highlands.

Carley Crispin had a hat trick against Paris while single goals were netted by Black, Leah LeCourtois, Tori Grice and Mary Mackenzie.

St. James was defeated 9-0 by Galt Ghosts of Cambridge and St. Mary’s Mustangs of Owen Sound and 6-0 by Simcoe Composite Sabres.
