Norwell wraps up first-place finish in girls’ hockey
SHELBURNE – The Norwell Varsity Reds claimed top spot in the District 4 high school girls’ hockey league as they completed the regular season with a trio of wins in the mini-tournament Tuesday at the Centre Dufferin Sports Complex.
Norwell defeated the Westside Thunder 6-3, Centre Dufferin Royals 3-1 and Wellington Heights Wolverines 5-0.
Norwell finishes first at 9-1-2 while Wellington Heights was second at 7-3-2, Westside third at 3-6-3, Centre Dufferin fourth at 2-6-4 and the idle Erin Raiders fifth at 2-7-3.
The league’s playoffs are set for next week with semifinals Monday or Tuesday and the final either Wednesday or Feb. 21.

Ella Black had a hat trick for Norwell while Alexa Marquard and Tori Grice also scored.
Westside received goals from Danielle Stevenson, Madi Ouellette and Hailey Hoskins.
Norwell 3 Centre Dufferin 1
Presley Brooking and Tori Grice had a goal apiece for Norwell.
Cassidy Agar scored the lone goal for Centre Dufferin.

Ella Black collected another hat trick while Maddie Klaasaen and Leah LeCourtois added single goals. Raegan Cressman picked up the shutout.
Centre Dufferin 1 Westside 0
Jordan Smith scored the game’s only goal.
