Oh no, Guelph Union suffers another 1-0 setback

GUELPH – Another 1-0 loss for Guelph Union.

And a former Union player scored the goal as the Simcoe County Rovers edged Union in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Sunday at Alumni Stadium.

Cloey Uddenberg, who played for Union in their inaugural season last summer and who also plays for the Guelph Gryphons women’s varsity team, struck for the game’s only goal in the 27th minute. It was her ninth goal of the season.

Alicia Chisholm had the shutout for Simcoe County while Libby Brenneman was the keeper for Union.

It was Guelph’s fourth 1-0 loss in five games and the sixth time Union has been shutout this season.

Union is 12th in the 20-team league with a 6-7-2 record. Simcoe County’s fifth at 9-2-5.

The Guelph side has four games to go in its season as they’re to play Tecumseh SC (5-6-4) in Windsor Wednesday night and Blue Devils FC (5-7-4) at Sheridan College’s Trafalgar Campus in Oakville Sunday at 4 p.m.

After that the locals are to close out their season with home games at Alumni Stadium against North Toronto Nitros (8-3-4) July 21 at 9 p.m. and FC London (12-2-2) July 24 at 4 p.m.
