
Orangeville rallies to slip by Fergus Thistles
ELORA – A pair of goals in overtime sank the Fergus Thistles in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Sunday afternoon at the Elora and District Community Centre.
Those two goals stretched a goal-scoring run by the Orangeville Northmen to five as they rallied for a 10-8 victory.

The Thistles held a three-goal lead at 8-5 with 6:49 to go in regulation time, but never scored after that. Orangeville pulled even and forced the extra period with three goals in a span of 36 seconds that started three and a half minutes after Fergus’s final goal.
Fergus led 3-2 at the end of the first period while the teams were tied 4-4 after the second.
Jon-James Lavigne and Brock Reinhart each had two goals and an assist for the Thistles while Keegan Detweiler also scored twice. Kaiden Patterson had a goal and an assist and Owen Tovell scored the other goal. J.J. Swanston had three assists, Brock Redwood two and Garret Warnaar, Carter Coffey and Aiden Mcdougall one apiece.
Josh Presley had five goals and two assists for Orangeville while Jack Fitzpatrick scored twice and Scott Clapham, Luke Downard and Preston Gear each had single goals. Nick Haladuick had three assists while Clapham, Colin Thompson, Zack Dorval and Caden Wasson had two apiece and Fitzpatrick, Downard and Keaton Walsh each had one.
Shots on net were not recorded.
Tyson Reeves took the loss in net for the Thistles while Andrew Wilson was the winning netminder for Orangeville.
The Northmen lead the West Division at 9-1-0 while Fergus is second at 7-2-0.
The Thistles are to host the Six Nations Stealth (4-6-0) Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
