Patriots again downed by Mitchell Hawks

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots scored the opening goal of the game midway through the first period, but the Mitchell Hawks responded with four consecutive goals to claim a 4-1 Provincial Junior Hockey League win Friday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

It was the fourth loss to Mitchell for the Patriots in four meetings this season. One of the setbacks was in overtime.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period Friday while Mitchell scored the lone goal of the second period.

Caleb Cribbin scored for the Patriots while Benjamin Tenhag set up the goal.

Mitchell received goals from Seth Huygen, Patrick Holloway, Malcolm Mcleod and Jared Lesouder. Caleb Musselman assisted on two of the goals while Sean Chisholm, Charlie Rankin, Lesouder, Mark Cassidy and Huygen each had one assist.

Mitchell outshot Mount Forest 42-34 and went 1-for-4 on its power play while the Patriots were scoreless four times with the manpower advantage.

Michael Brassor had 38 saves in the Mount Forest net while Tyler Parr had 33 saves for Mitchell.

The Patriots are to host the Goderich Flyers Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
