Patriots battle Kincardine Bulldogs to standoff

KINCARDINE – The Mount Forest Patriots and Kincardine Bulldogs battled to a 2-2 standoff in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Ripley Huron Community Centre.

Kincardine led 2-1 after the first period and the Patriots squared the score 61 seconds into the third. An overtime period failed to produce a winner.

Michael Stefanelli had a goal and an assist fir the Patriots while Klayton Hoelscher also scored and Jack Birkett also had an assist.

Brett Burrows and Trevor Donaldson scored for Kincardine while assists were awarded to Jordan Caskenette and Mike Fiegehen.

Mount Forest outshot Kincardine 46-44 and went 1-for-3 on its power play while holding Kincardine scoreless on four power plays.

David Lobsinger was in net for the tie for the Patriots while Craig Luinstra was in net for Kincardine.

The Wingham Ironmen lead the Pollock Division at 8-1-0-0 while Kincardine is second at 7-2-1-0 and Mount Forest is third at 6-2-1-0.

The Patriots are to host the Goderich Flyers (1-7-0-2) Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
