Patriots blank Walkerton to remain undefeated

WALKERTON – The Mount Forest Patriots struck for four goals in the first period as they remained unbeaten in PJHL play with an 8-0 blanking of the Walkerton Capitals Friday night at the Walkerton Community Centre.

The Patriots have 12 wins and a tie in league play this season to lead the Pollock Division.

The Patriots added a single goals in the second period and three more in the third.

Vance Meyer stopped 23 shots on get the shutout for Mount Forest.

Elijah Brahaney had a hat trick to bring his seasonal total to 13 goals. Single goals were added by Reid Caswell, Ben Tenhag, Josh Presley, Bryan Richardson and Ethan Meeker. Jordan Leitch had two assists while Caswell, Presley, Austin Griffin, Matthew Weiler, Dylan Szymanowski and Riley Torrie had one apiece.

The Patriots outshot the Capitals 31-23 and went 3-for-6 on their power play while Walkerton was scoreless on five power plays.

While the Patriots lead the division, they’re followed by the Hanover Barons (8-1-2-1), Mitchell Hawks (8-2-1-2), Wingham Ironmen (6-5-1-1), Kincardine Bulldogs (4-8-1-0), Walkerton (2-8-0-1) and Goderich Flyers (1-12-0-0).

The Patriots are to host Goderich Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex in their first of four consecutive home games.
