Patriots blanked by Mitchell for first setback of season
MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots were held scoreless on 20 shots as they were blanked 5-0 by the Mitchell Hawks in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
Mitchell had a pair of power-play goals as the Hawks scored once in the first period and four times in the second to hand the Patriots their first loss of the season.

Malcolm Mcleod hit for a pair of goals for Mitchell while Carter Musselman, Braeden Burdett and Tyson Hall also scored. Getting single assists were Charlie Rankin, Carter Lewis, Caleb Musselman, Mark Cassidy, Zach Dow, Callan Ferguson and Aiden McMann.
Tyler Parr picked up the shutout in net for Mitchell while Joshua Peters made 41 saves in the loss for Mount Forest as the Patriots were outshot 46-20.
Both teams had four power plays in the game.
The win lifts Mitchell to 2-2-0-0 while Mount Forest falls to 1-1-0-1.
The Patriots are to play twice next weekend as they’re to host the Wingham Ironmen (2-0-0-0) Saturday at 8 p.m. and play the Goderich Flyers (0-4-0-0) at the Goderich Maitland Recreation Complex Sunday at 2 p.m.
