Mount Forest has 13 wins and a tie to start their season and lead the Pollock Division by six points over the runner-up Hanover Barons.
The Patriots and the Napanee Raiders, who have won all 14 of their games, are the only undefeated teams in the 60-team league.
Saturday, a pair of goals 1:04 apart late in the first period broke a 1-1 tie and started the Patriots on their way to the victory. They led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 4-2 after the second.
Goderich closed the gap to a single goal four minutes into the fifth period but Mount Forest replied with a pair of goals by Dylan Szymanowski 25 seconds apart to put an end to any thoughts the Flyers had of a comeback. The first of that quick pair by Szymanowski came 40 seconds after Goderich’s third goal.
Caleb Cribbin also had two goals for the Patriots while Ben Tenhag, Elijah Brahaney and Evan Dewar scored once each. Cribbin had three assists while Austin Griffin had two and Cameron Voisin, Szymanowski, Aidan Doig, Brahaney, Riley Torrie and Bryan Richardson each had one.

Tristan Szymanowski had 27 saves for the Patriots while Liam McCarthy had 42 for Goderich.
Cribbin leads the league in scoring with 16 goals and 18 assists while Brahaney is 11th with 14 goals and 10 assists.
The Patriots are to host Hanover Saturday at 8 p.m. in their second of four consecutive home games.
