Patriots handed setback by Hanover Barons

HANOVER – The Mount Forest Patriots were held scoreless after the second minute of the game as they were handed a 4-1 setback by the Hanover Barons in PJHL play Sunday at Hanover’s P and H Centre.

Ben Tenhag gave the Patriots the early lead when he scored 1:56 into the game. However, that was to be Mount Forest’s lone goal of the game.

The Barons came back to lead 2-1 by the end of the first period before adding a single goal in each of the second and third periods.

Ryan Goetz scored both of the first-period goals for Hanover while Chris Ferri scored in the second and Curtis Arnold scored in the third. Dylan Richardson assisted on two goals while the goal scorers each had an assist.

Hanover outshot the Patriots 33-27 and the Barons went 2-for-7 on their power play while Mount Forest was scoreless on five power plays.

Vance Meyer had 29 saves in net for Mount Forest while Riley McCabe and Lander Hartley split the goaltending chores for Hanover and they combined for 26 saves.

The Patriots (15-3-0-1) lead the Pollock Division while the Barons (12-2-2-1) and Mitchell Hawks (12-4-1-2) are tied for second.

The Patriots and Barons are to play again Saturday at the P and H Centre.
