Patriots rally with four straight goals to topple Kincardine

MOUNT FOREST – After giving up the first two goals of the game, the Mount Forest Patriots rallied for four consecutive goals on their way to a 5-3 victory over the Kincardine Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

Kincardine led 2-1 at the end of the first period while the Patriots claimed a 3-2 lead by the end of the second.

Matthew Weiler and Christopher Prucha potted two goals apiece for the Patriots while Darcy Winkler had the other goal. Derrick Cornfield, Mark Aljoe and Kobe Roe each had two assists and Adam Murray and Owen Goetz had one each.

Scoring for Kincardine were Bryce McFadden, Jason Taylor and Gavin Gibbons while assists went to Steven Grant, Ben Nauta and Jordan Beisel.

Gleb Paliakov had the win in net for Mount Forest while Joshua Jacklin was tagged with the loss for Kincardine.

The teams each took 35 shots while Kincardine went 1-for-6 on its power play and the Patriots went 1-for-2. Mount Forest also had a shorthanded goal.

The result leaves the Patriots at 1-0-0-1 and Kincardine at 2-1-0-0.

The Patriots are to host the Mitchell Hawks (1-2-0-0) tonight. Game time is 8 p.m.
