
Patriots rebound from losses to top Mitchell
MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots bounced back from their pair of losses to the Wingham Ironmen by doubling the Mitchell Hawks 6-3 in PJHL play Sunday at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
The Patriots never trailed in the game, but needed to score the final three goals of the contest to post the victory.

The Patriots led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 3-2 after the second, but Mitchell pulled even with a power-play goal 62 seconds into the third.
Elijah Brahaney, Kyle Detweiler and Dylan Szymanowski added goals for the Patriots later in the third. Brahaney had scored earlier in the game as had Aidan Doig and Matthew Weiler. Caleb Cribbin had three assists while Brahaney had two and Jared Rowe, Ben Tenhag, Bryan Richardson, Austin Griffin, Weiler, Doig and Jordan Leitch had one apiece.
Mark Cassidy, Callum McMann and Carter Musselman netted the goals for Mitchell while assists were awarded to Brady Brezynskie, Hayden Hessel, Nolan Gagnier, Tyson Hall and Dawson Dietz.
Mitchell outshot the Patriots 42-28 including a 19-7 advantage in the third period. The Patriots went 4-for-7 on their power play while the Hawks were 2-for-6.
Vance Meyer had 39 saves in the Mount Forest net while Joshua Jacklin had 22 for Mitchell.
Mount Forest leads the Pollock Division at 26-8-0-1 while Mitchell is third at 21-10-2-2.
The Patriots have a pair of home games next weekend as they’re to host the seventh-place Goderich Flyers (4-28-1-0) Friday at 8:30 p.m. and the fifth-place Kincardine Bulldogs (17-13-3-1) Saturday at 8 p.m.
