Patriots rebound with win over Hanover

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots bounced back from their two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Hanover Barons in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The Patriots never trailed in the game and led 1-0 at the end of the first period and 3-1 after the second.

Parker Miller had a pair of goals for the Patriots while Jack Birkett and Klayton Hoelscher also scored. Michael Stefanelli and Hoelscher each had two assists while single assists were awarded to Troy Weber, Dylan Brown and Birkett.

Kyler Borth and former Patriot Brock Phillips scored for Hanover while assists went to Nathan Schwartz, Phillips, Brandon Richardson and Quinton Maddock.

The Patriots outshot Hanover 41-33 and went 1-for-7 on their power play in the physical game while the Barons went 1-for-10.

David Lobsinger had 31 saves for the win in the Mount Forest net while Brendon Landry was charged with the loss in the Hanover net.

The Patriots are third in the Pollock Division at 11-6-1-0 while Hanover is fifth at 7-11-1-1.

Sunday, the Patriots are to host the Stayner Siskins (14-2-1-2) at 2 p.m. Stayner is tied for the lead of the Carruthers Division with the Caledon Golden Hawks (15-7-1-0).
