Patriots top Kincardine for fourth consecutive win
MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots extended their win streak in Provincial Junior Hockey League play to four games with a 6-2 victory over the Kincardine Bulldogs Saturday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
Three goals in the second period for the Patriots broke a tie and put the Patriots ahead for good. The teams had been tied 1-1 at the end of the first period before Mount Forest shot ahead 4-1 by the end of the second.
Luke Eurig had a hat trick for the hosts while single goals were netted by Troy Weber, Matthew Weiler and Hayden Coulter. Ryley Cribbin assisted on four of the goals while Hayden Coulter had two assists and Michael Stefanelli, Jack Birkett, Thomas Coulter and Eurig had one apiece.
Jordan Caskenette scored both goals for Kincardine while single assists were awarded to Logan Freiburger and Danny Skinner.
The Patriots outshot the Bulldogs 42-33 thanks to a 31-17 advantage in shots after the first period.
Both teams went 0-for-4 on their power plays.
Aidan Quish had 31 saves to get the win in net for the Patriots while losing netminder Sean Andrus had 36 saves.
The Patriots (4-1-0-0) are tied for the lead of the Pollock Division with the Wingham Ironmen (4-0-0-0) while Kincardine is fifth at 3-3-0-0.
Mount Forest is to play the Walkerton Hawks (1-4-0-0) at the Walkerton arena Friday. Game time is 8:20 p.m.
