Players selected for D10 girls’ basketball all-star games

GUELPH – Players to participate in Wednesday’s District 10 high school girls’ basketball all-star games at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre have been named.

For the senior game, the home team will consist of players from the Bishop Macdonell Celtics, St. James Lions and Guelph CVI Green Gaels while the visiting team will be made up of players from the Orangeville Bears, Centennial Spartans, Ross Royals and Lourdes Crusaders.

Selected for the home team are Ashley Coverdale, Maja Gadzinska, Alicia Higgins, Maria Lukic and Vanessa Tassone from Bishop Mac, Payton Cathcart, Lauralee Mackeigan and Grace Mencfeld of St. James and Cassidy Andrews and Tina Qiu of GCVI.

Picked for the visiting team are Alicia Bowering, Ella Claridge, Krista Gott and Breanne Murray of Orangeville, Sarah Cobey, Amy Gray and Jocelyn Newby of Centennial, Sarah Hopkins and Clodagh Stalker of Ross and Sami Romero of Lourdes.

For the junior game, players from St. James, Ross, GCVI and Lourdes will be on the home side and players from Orangeville, Centre Wellington Falcons, Centennial and Bishop Mac will be on the visiting side.

Picked to play for the home team are Ella Farrelly, Elivia Garbuio, Amanda Lago and Elizabeth Malone of St. James, Megan Beamish, Emma Capper and Koby Commandant of Ross, Eve Elford and Olga Llander of GCVI and Isabella Banni of Lourdes.

Named to the visiting team are Emily Bell, Emilie Franz, Kendal MacGregor and Victoria Tesar of Orangeville, Nicole Cudmore, Kara den Hoed and Beth Penton of Centre Wellington, Rachel Manongdo and Maddie Patrick of Centennial and Madeline Tavares of Bishop Mac.

The junior game is to start the all-star doubleheader at 6 p.m. and the senior game is to follow at 7:30 p.m.
