Predators keep two tournament titles at home

GUELPH – A pair of Guelph Predators squads grabbed titles in the finals of the Guelph Ringette Association’s annual tournament Sunday.

The U10 and U19 AA teams won their divisions.

In U10, the Predators S dropped Caledonia Lightning T 7-2 in the championship match. Megan Hancock and Lexie Sisco each had hat tricks while Kirpal Chane scored the other goal. Kali Gonsalves and Sisco each collected two assists and single assists were awarded to Ffion Anthony, Hancock, Isabelle Lemelin and Alexa Whale.

In U19 AA, the Predators edged City of Ottawa Ice 4-3 in overtime. Bronte Bilton, Lydia Duncan, Danielle McIntosh and Emily Power scored the goals for the Predators while Claire Wyville had two assists and Sidney Claerbout, Hilary Davidson, Lauren Eccles and Jada Laliberte had one apiece.

The Predators gained their berth in the final with a 6-3 victory over the Cambridge Turbos in the semifinals. Duncan and Power scored twice each and Davidson and Laliberte netted single goals. Paige Miller, Olivia Verbit and Wyville each collected two assists while Bronte Bilton, Claerbout, Eccles and Laliberte had one each.

The U14 A Predators finished as silver medalists after they were edged 1-0 in overtime by the West Ferris 63s.

The U12 P Predators were edged 5-4 by the Forest Extreme in the semifinals. Abby Leclerc had a pair of goals for the hosts while Alex Boyko and Maddy Lecompte also scored. Assists went to Erica Hancock with two and Audrey Beattie and Leclerc with one apiece.

Forest Extreme advanced to the final where they were nipped 6-5 by the Mississauga Mustangs.

In U19 A, the Predators were edged 5-4 in overtime by the West Ferris 63s. Ashton Kemper tallied twice and Laina Carberry and Bryn McClennan added single goals. Mackenzie Kuntz and McClennan each had two assists and Abbi Crampton, Louana Meloche and Jazmine Weber picked up one each.

Timmins Tornadoes defeated West Ferris 5-3 in the final.

The Guelph Gryphons were ousted after suffering a 4-3 loss in overtime to the Laurier Golden Hawks in the 18+ University category’s semifinals. Tara Jensen had two goals for the Gryphs while Rachael Dickie scored the other one. Gillian Marrow had two assists and Maggie Kiernan and Brittney Littlefield had one each.

Laurier went on to drop the Carleton Ravens 8-5 in the final.

The Predators completed round-robin play in the 18+ B category with a 4-0 loss to the Exeter-Seaforth Explosion who were blanked 2-0 by Toronto Open in the category final.
