Raiders, Ross Royals finish girls’ rugby regular season unbeaten

GUELPH – The Erin Raiders secured top spot in Pool B of District 4/10 high school girls’ rugby Monday with a 36-5 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics at Varsity Field.

The win completed a sweep of their three regular-season games and gave the Raiders a home game against the Centennial Spartans, fourth in Pool A, in Thursday’s crossover quarter-finals of the playoffs.

Ross Royals also finished an unbeaten march through their regular season with a 62-5 win over the Centennial Spartans Monday. They’ll host a game Thursday against an opponent that will be decided Tuesday when the Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Centre Wellington Falcons meet in Fergus.

 

Erin 36 Bishop Macdonell 5

Emma Warren led Erin with a 26-point outing as she scored four tries and added three converts. Taylor Noblett and Ashley Smith each scored a try.

Emma Graham had the try for Bishop Mac.

 

Ross 62 Centennial 5

M. Hagarty and K. Bruce scored three tries apiece for Ross while D. Eddy kicked five converts. A. Wilson, A. Campbell, S. Brown and M. Mau each had a single try and B. Pembleton added a convert.

Centennial’s scorer was not reported.

 

Centre Dufferin 26 Orangeville 5

Centre Dufferin struck for four tries in the match while Orangeville had one.

Individual scorers were not reported.

 

Senior Boys’ Rugby

Guelph CVI 64 Centennial 7

Adam Geddes collected three tries for GCVI while Alexander Lukens kicked six converts. Rowen Marlatt added two tries while Logan Cako, Wyatt Long, Tarik Pacha, Thomas Szabo and Josei Yoshioka each scored a try and Wares Heddokheel added a convert.

Bobby Doubton scored the try for Centennial and it was converted by Ethan Godinho.
