Redcoats, Highland players suit up for Ontario West

GUELPH – Several players representing the Guelph Redcoats and Fergus Highland clubs participated in the annual Rugby Ontario Cross Border Series Presented by the University of Guelph.

The three-day event wrapped up Saturday with games at Varsity Field and the grass field in the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

The Redcoats (Junior Gryphons) and Highland players were teammates on the Ontario Blues West teams.

Other teams that participated included Ontario Blues Central and Barrie of Ontario, Latymer Upper School and Cheltenham Bournside of England, Stewart’s Melville of Scotland and Eagles Impact Rugby Academy of the U.S.

Redcoats (Junior Gryphons) on the West teams included Abby Auger and Drue Costello in U16 girls, Kennedy Queen, Olivia Sarabura and Emelia Sewell in U18 girls, Charles Trollid in U15 boys, Blake Forester in U16 boys and Alexander Coole in U18 boys.

Representing Highland were Morgan Barnard, McKinna Colley, Madison Keats, Matalyn Lee, Anna Norman, Madeline Schindler, Kyla Warren and Avery Wettlaufer in U18 girls, Griffin Kerfoot, Darren Kusinski, Elijah McQueen and Max Wickett in U15 boys, Carter Phillips in U16 boys and Reuben Bowley, Michael Chapman, Kaleb Harris and Caleb Willmets in U17 boys.
