Regals turn in big third period to top Wallaceburg

WALLACEBURG – The Guelph Regals scored six unanswered goals in the third period to drop the Wallaceburg Red Devils 12-5 in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Saturday night at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

The Regals had struck for the first four goals of the game and led 4-2 at the end of the first period, but Wallaceburg cut the gap to a single goal at 6-5 for Guelph at the end of the second.

Ethan Keleher and Dallon Evans each had four goals and three assists for the Regals while Owen Orpana had two goals and an assist, Marcus Keleher had a goal and two assists and Tyler Beecraft added a goal.

Ty Myers had a hat trick for Wallaceburg while single goals were netted by Kelgen Franquist and Shawn Glover-Noah.

The Regals outshot Wallaceburg 55-39 and went 1-for-4 on their power play while the Red Devils went 1-for-5.

Dante Mancini had 34 saves to get the win in net for the Regals while Mason Jacobs had 43 saves for Wallaceburg.

The result leaves the Regals at 7-5-0 and Wallaceburg at 4-8-0.

The Regals are to play the Point Edward Pacers (2-8-0) Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Point Edward Arena.
