
Rocks douse Flames with five goals in second period
ELORA – Five goals in the second period proved to be the difference for the Elora Rocks as they hit for a 7-2 victory over the Delhi Flames in Western Ontario Super Hockey League play Friday night at the Elora and District Community Centre.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the opening period before the Rocks jumped ahead 6-2 by the end of the second.

Shaun Pickering scored twice for the Rocks while single goals were added by Spencer Gourlay, Zack Cameron, Chad Herron, Brett McInall and Alex Uttley. Yianni Skropolis picked up two assists while Gourlay, Spencer MacCormack, Herron, Tye Campbell and McInall each had one.
Jacob Erwin and Brady Vanymeren had a goal apiece for Delhi while Chris Donnelly had an assist.
Delhi outshot the Rocks 41-35 and both teams were held scoreless on their power plays, Elora on four power plays and Delhi on six. Elora did score two shorthanded goals.
Anthony Marshall had 39 saves to get the win in net for Elora while Raine Steadman had 34 saves for Delhi.
The result keeps the Rocks undefeated at 4-0-0 and Delhi winless at 0-4-0.
The Rocks are to host the Erin Blitz (0-2-0) next Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Elora and District Community Centre. It’ll be the third meeting between the teams this season.
After that the Rocks are scheduled to play four consecutive road games.
