Rocks fall to Milverton in their playoff opener

ELORA – The Milverton 4 Wheel Drives scored two goals in each of the first two periods as they opened their Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s hockey league’s A semifinal with a 5-3 victory over the Elora Rocks at the Elora and District Community Centre.

The Rocks trailed 2-1 at the end of the first period and 4-2 after the second.

Steve Dol, Lyam Cripps and Sam Bilton had a goal apiece for the Rocks while assists went to Trevor Lord, Cripps, Kris Dobinson, Corey Flemington, Brock West and Alex Gamble.

Curtis Rawn tallied twice for Milverton while single goals were added by Evan Buehler, Dennis Dewar and Mike Vitelli. Chad Bauman and Riley Conners each had two assists while Colin Martin, Dewar and Mitchell Boertien each had one assist.

The Rocks outshot Milverton 44-42.

Colin Dunne was charged with the loss for the Rocks. He had 37 saves while Brayden Bruce had 41 saves for Milverton.

Second game of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Milverton.
