Rocks open scoring, but fall to Clinton Radars

ELORA – The Elora Rocks scored the first goal of the game, but the Clinton Radars came back for a 4-1 victory in WOAA senior men’s hockey league play Friday night at the Elora and District Community Centre.

Trevor Lord opened the scoring in the game when he tallied for the hosts at 1:52 of the first. Lyam Cripps and Brett Coverdale assisted on the goal.

The lead lasted until 20 seconds into the second period when Max Campbell scored for Clinton.

The Radars were ahead 48 seconds later when Sean Consitt connected for the first of two consecutive goals for the visitors and Cullen Mercer wrapped up the scoring in the final minute of the third.

Stephen Sanza, Blake Buchanan, Ryan Murphy, Matt Knight-Bedour and Consitt each had an assist for Clinton.

The Rocks outshot Clinton 40-38 and both teams were scoreless on three power plays.

Colin Dunne was charged with the loss in the Elora net while Drew Reinhardt picked up the win for Clinton.

The Rocks are tied for eighth at 4-6-0-1 while Clinton is fourth at 8-4-0-0.

The Rocks have a bit of time away from the league before their next game Dec. 13 against the Shelburne Muskies at Shelburne’s Centre Dufferin Recreation Centre. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
