
Rocks yield six consecutive goals in loss to Stratford
STRATFORD – The Elora Rocks surrendered six consecutive goals including five in the third period as they were doubled by the Stratford Fighting Irish 10-5 in WOSHL play Saturday at Stratford’s Allman arena.
Stratford’s scoring streak included three power-play goals and a shorthanded marker.

The Fighting Irish led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 5-4 after the second. The hosts stretched the lead to six goals before Elora completed the scoring in the game with 4:48 to play.
The Rocks had 17 players suited up for the afternoon match while Stratford had 20.
Spencer MacCormack had a pair of goals for Elora while Zack Cameron, Joey Heath and Alex Uttley added single goals. Chad Herron set up two of the goals while single assists went to Steven Dol, Blaize Bridges, Cameron, Tye Campbell and Blake Hembruff.
Graham Brulotte and Dylan Buckholz had two goals apiece for the Fighting Irish while Colin Martin, Brody Smith, Steven Degroot, Daniel McCutcheon, Cameron Stokes and Brad Krysko added a goal apiece. Ray Robbins had four assists while Degroot and Cooper Leitch had two apiece and Matt Granger, Mav Petrie, Branden Speziale, Riley Coome, Stokes, Krysko and Buckholz had one each.
Stratford outshot Elora 50-25 including a 37-13 advantage in the first and third periods combined. The Rocks were 3-for-4 on their power play while the Fighting Irish were 3-for-6.
Colin Dunne had 40 saves for Elora while Zack Weir had 25 for Stratford.
The Rocks are second in the league standings at 8-2-0-1 while the Tilbury Bluebirds lead at 9-2-0-0. Stratford is fourth at 6-2-0-0 and has three games in hand on the top two.
Elora and Stratford are to meet again Friday at the Elora and District Community Centre. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
That game is to be the first of three in a row at home as the Rocks are to host the Plattsville Lakers (3-8-0-0) Dec. 9 at 8:30 p.m. and the Strathroy Jets (5-6-0-0) Dec. 16 at 8:30 p.m.
