
Ross, Centre Wellington to meet in girls’ hockey final
GUELPH – Ross Royals and Centre Wellington Falcons advanced to the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league’s championship match with semifinal victories Wednesday.
The Royals edged the Lourdes Crusaders 4-3 at the Victoria Road arena while the Centre Wellington Falcons blanked the Centennial Spartans 3-0 in Fergus.
Ross finished second at the completion of the regular season at 7-2-1 while Centre Wellington was first at 9-0-1.
The Falcons are to host Ross in the league final next Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
Centre Wellington dropped Ross 7-1 at Fergus Nov. 28 and the teams tied 3-3 in Guelph Dec. 19.

Kaitlyn Broeckel had a pair of goals for Ross while Tegan Penson scored a goal. The other scorer was not reported. Sophia Payne had two assists while Josie Meredith and Emma Collier had one each.
Oceania Fraser, Breawna Sanecki and Millie Blamauer each had a goal for Lourdes. Single assists were awarded to Fraser, Sophie Power Rossi, Claire Levesque, Shawn Bernhard and Claire Hayne.
Centre Wellington 3 Centennial 0
Abi Kirk struck for a pair of goals for Centre Wellington while Keira Healey also scored. Avery Diljee assisted on two of the goals while Olivia Kosempel, Alli Pettifer and Campbell Lean each had one assist.
