
Ross closes in on senior girls’ volleyball home playoff match
GUELPH – The Ross Royals all but secured a home match in next week’s District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball quarter-finals when they swept Orangeville Bears 3-0 on their home court Monday.
The Royals won 25-23, 25-19, 25-18.
The result leaves the Royals in fourth place at 6-5 while the Bears and Bishop Macdonell Celtics are tied for fifth at 3-8.
All teams in the league have three matches remaining in the regular season and Ross would secure a home date in the quarter-finals with a win in any of their remaining regular-season matches.
All teams are to play once Tuesday and twice Thursday.
St. James Lions lead at 10-1 while the Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Centennial Spartans are both at 9-2. Centre Wellington Falcons and Lourdes Crusaders are both at 2-9.

The Falcons won Monday’s match 25-12, 28-26, 21-25, 25-21.

Ross 3 Orangeville 1
The Royals won 25-20, 25-7, 23-25, 25-14.
Ross leads the league at 10-1 while Orangeville is tied for sixth at 3-8.
Centre Wellington 3 Lourdes 0
The Falcons won 25-6, 25-14, 25-19.
Centre Wellington is tied for second with the St. James Lions as both teams have 9-2 records. Lourdes is eighth at 0-11.
