Ross, GCVI remain perfect early in field hockey season
GUELPH – The Ross Royals and Guelph CVI Green Gaels met in the District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey final last year and could be headed for a rematch in this year’s final.
Ross and GCVI added wins Wednesday to remain unbeaten early in this year’s season.
Ross won the battle of the Royals with a 3-0 victory over the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne at Ross.
The Gaels took two shutout wins at the University of Guelph’s Varsity Fields as they blanked the Centre Wellington Falcons 4-0 and the Centennial Spartans 5-0.

Sarah Taylor had two goals for Ross while Olivia Sarabura scored the other one. The shutout was shared by Mackenzie Coole and Acacia Douglas Henke.
Guelph CVI 4 Centre Wellington 0
Olivia Puddephatt tallied twice for GCVI while Jasmine Hasmatali and Clara Sebastian also scored. Lou Meroche had the shutout.
Guelph CVI 5 Centennial 0
Jasmine Hasmatali hit for a hat trick for GCVI while the other goals were scored by Clara Sebastian and Jessie Struyk. Lou Meloche picked up the shutout.
Centennial 3 Centre Wellington 0
Centennial received goals from Hilary Davidson, Gabby Durst and Lauren Protz and shutout goalkeeping from Sarah Dykstra.
Orangeville 1 Wellington Heights 0
Katie Pasiak scored the game’s only goal, with help from Tera George.
Bishop Macdonell 1 Orangeville 0
Samantha Tracey scored the goal for Bishop Mac.
