Ross Royals jump to first in high school baseball

GUELPH – The Ross Royals gained sole possession of first place in the District 4/10 high school baseball league Wednesday with a 10-4 victory over the Centennial Spartans at Hastings Stadium.

The win gave the Royals a 2-0-0 record, the only team to have won both its games.

However, Ross could be joined atop the league by the winner of a match between the Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Lourdes Crusaders set for 4 p.m. Thursday at Hastings Stadium. Both of those teams won their season openers Monday.

In other games Wednesday, the St. James Lions dropped the Westside Thunder of Orangeville 10-1 and the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne nipped the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 5-4.

Details were not reported from any of Wednesday’s games.
