Ross Royals senior basketball girls break goose egg

GUELPH – The Ross Royals picked up their first win in District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball in almost two years Thursday when they handed the Lourdes Crusaders a 37-26 setback.

It was the first win for the Royals since they completed the 2016 regular season with a three-point win over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels.

Payton Rickers hit for 13 points against the Crusaders while Sammi Slater and Clodagh Stalker each had six points.

Ronette Eimar connected for eight points for Lourdes while Dina Olivera and Sami Romero netted six apiece.

 

Bishop Macdonell 65 Orangeville 42

Maja Gadzinska and Tyla Timlock struck for 13 points apiece for Bishop Mac.

Alicia Bowering had 23 for Orangeville while Shannon Baggs added seven.

 

St. James 52 Guelph CVI 21

Grace Mencfeld’s 24 points led St. James while Lauralee Mackeigan and Payton Cathcart collected 10 apiece.

Nalekia Dawes had seven for GCVI while Bianca Fraresso netted five and Maria Lukic added four.

 

Junior

Orangeville 47 Bishop Macdonell 19

Emilie Franz gathered 15 points for Orangeville.

Madeline Tavares had eight for Bishop Mac.

 

St. James 61 Guelph CVI 14

Elivia Garbuio connected for 22 points for St. James while Laura Campagnolo chipped in with 14.

Amandeep Jawanda had eight for GCVI.

 

Centre Wellington 45 Centennial 29

Frances Wolkensperg’s 11 points led Centre Wellington.

Miren Oliver had nine for Centennial.

 

Ross 52 Lourdes 18

Alicia Garay had 15 points for Ross while Emma Capper contributed eight.

Isabella Banni had six for Lourdes while Tessel and Mulligan each had four.
