Ross Royals vault to top of baseball standings

GUELPH — The Ross Royals stand as the lone undefeated team in District 10 high school baseball after they tripled the St. James Lions 9-3 at Pearson Park Thursday.

Spencer Bertelsen was the winning pitcher for the Royals while Ethan Vivian drove in two runs and Jackson Wahl tripled, knocked in a run and scored on a passed ball. Devin Zigby also had a hit and RBI, J. Verhart knocked a run home with a suicide squeeze bunt, Aiden Currie had two and an RBI, Brad Evans had a hit and he scored on a passed ball and Cody Mastrogiocomo had a bunt single.

Liam Karn drove in a run for St. James with a sacrifice fly and he also had a hit while Cameron Hewitt knocked in a run with a groundout. Nick Lo Strocco collected a hit and he scored on an error and Tristan Vince connected for a hit. Carter Keleher was tagged with the loss while Bryan Richardson reached base three times.


Centennial 4 Guelph CVI 4

Brodey Hlushko scored two of the runs for Centennial while Trent Devine and Ben Smith scored one apiece.

Griffin Cleghorn and Noah Neumann each scored two runs for GCVI. Ryan Kush had 10 strikeouts on the mound.
