Rouyn-Noranda celebrates after Memorial Cup win

HALIFAX – Rouyn-Noranda Huskies scored twice in the third period to claim the Memorial Cup championship Sunday night at Halifax’s Scotiabank Centre with a 4-2 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads.

Halifax scored the lone goal of the first period before Rouyn-Noranda came back to tie it 2-2 by the end of the second.

Félix Bibeau, Joël Teasdale, Peter Abbandonato and Vincent Marleau had a goal apiece for the Huskies while Justin Bergeron had two assists and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, Tyler Hinam, Jakub Lauko, Mathieu Gagnon and Abbandonato each had one assist.

Samuel Asselin and Raphael Lavoie had the goals for Halifax while Benoit-Olivier Groulx assisted on both goals and Asselin and Jake Ryczek had single assists.
