Royals, Gaels, Spartans in third-place tie in senior hoops

GUELPH – Tuesday wins by the Ross Royals and Guelph CVI Green Gaels and a loss by the Centennial Spartans left the three teams tied for third in the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball league standings.

The three teams each have eight wins on the D10 season. Centennial has four losses while Ross and GCVI have five.

All are to complete their regular seasons Thursday while Centennial is also to play Wednesday.


Ross 74 Lourdes 70

Zaid Karsiem led Ross with 20 points while Khaled Djabo netted 19.

Jacob Porcellato had 16 for Lourdes and Isaac Krueger and Abraham Kayeye added 13 apiece.


Guelph CVI 63 Orangeville 54

Ben Tofil struck for 25 points for GCVI and Drew Desai chipped in with 11.

Charlie Hamilton had 17 for Orangeville and Ty Asante collected 11.


Centre Wellington 81 Bishop Macdonell 42

Cole Newton hit for 23 points for Centre Wellington and Brock Newton gathered 22.

Kurt Sialana had 12 for Bishop Mac and Zach Valiquette followed with 10.


St. James 64 Centennial 62

St. James clinched a second-place finish with the win. Scoring details were not reported.



Orangeville 74 Guelph CVI 49

Rowan Steele netted 23 points for Orangeville while Brandon Hughes had 14 and T.J. Walkinshaw added 13.

Tennessee Trumain gathered 13 for GCVI and Kristian Marosz added 10.


Ross 37 Lourdes 26

Lazar Stojanovic struck for 13 points for Ross while Awab Bardoun had eight and Tyler Chalifour added four.

Tyler Blais had eight for Lourdes while Angelo Randell contributed seven and Noah Penny chipped in with six.


Centennial 61 St. James 39

Bishop Macdonell 63 Centre Wellington 46

Adam Cunningham had a game-high 19 points to lead Bishop Mac while Adam Zen followed with 17.

Aiden Davy had 14 for Centre Wellington and Ethan Kosempel netted 12.
